Hastings: Foreshore Masterplan Implementation
- Project typeOpen Spaces and Reserves
The Hastings Foreshore Masterplan builds on the foundations of the previous Hastings South Coastal Management Plan, Hastings Foreshore Precinct Plan, and the Mornington Peninsula Shire Arts and Culture Plan 2020 – 2024. The Masterplan has been developed with input from community, local and state stakeholders and the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation
Following adoption of the Masterplan earlier in 2023, the Project Team is now progressing with further planning and delivery of elements identified within the Masterplan. This project will focus on the Hastings Foreshore extending from Hastings South to the northern end of Fred Smith Reserve. Further planning for the Pump Track and Public Toilet will be reviewed.
The key areas prioritised for delivery this financial year along with progress updates:
- Delivery of landscaping and path upgrade work within the Northern Foreshore area (of Fred Smith Reserve). The scope includes path and network improvements, connected planting and seating areas, and minor maintenance works to the existing car park. Path works are expected for completion in early June. The additional path links will provide the community with alternative walking trail options.
- Concept designs are also underway for the development of a Flexible Events area, this focuses on the ability to host differing scales of events such as community markets, festivals and concerts. The designs aim to maintain the existing settings and remain true to the current surroundings, so that the area continues to provide the opportunity for everyday usage.
